some tips for the preparation of your navigation

Meteo & notams

Olivia is a website proposed by the DGAC (Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile). It provides an on-line support for meteorological information, notams and flight plan.

Meteorological information is provided to Olivia by Meteo France. You need the same personnal code than for all Meteo France services such as Aeroweb. Such a code can be obtained free of charge, after sending a copy of your licence with your address to Meteo France, by e-mail (serv-code@meteo.fr) or by fax (+33 561 078 079).

Note : Olivia exists in both french and english versions.

Official documentation : VAC, AIC, SUP AIP, ...

Many official documents are now available, on-line and free of charge, on the SIA's website (Service de l'Information Aéronautique). You can find the VAC charts, but also many other items dealing with regulations.

Note : The website exists in both french and english versions.

FPL

Dealing with Flight Plans, a specialized phone number is useful to know : 0810 IFR VFR (0810 437 837). It runs H24 on France territory and allows both to file and to close flight plans.

Other useful website

NAV2000 is often considered as the best website in France for the preparation of navigations, even if it is not "offical". It provides the same information than the here above websites (the single restriction is that FPL can be edited but can not be sent). Furthermore, it provides pieces of the famous "VFR France" chart developed by Jean Bossy. Given as an example : North of France...

Note : French speaking only...
